I’m Ariel! (pronouns she, her, hers)

My Credentials

My path to becoming a therapist began at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, with minors in Psychology and Sociology. This background shaped how I understand trauma — not just as an individual experience, but as something influenced by systems, environments, and survival responses.

I later earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, building the clinical foundation to support meaningful, sustained change. I am also EMDR trained, using an evidence-based approach to help clients process trauma, improve emotional regulation, and regain a sense of internal stability.

My work integrates insight, nervous system awareness, and practical tools. I work best with individuals who value depth, clarity, and forward movement — and who are ready to engage in healing that is grounded, intentional, and lasting.

Career Path

After completing my graduate training, I worked as a Mobile Crisis Outreach Care Coordinator, providing crisis assessments and safety planning for tweens, teens, and adults across Hays County. In addition to crisis intervention, I supported clients in accessing housing and employment resources during high-risk periods. This role provided direct, on-the-ground experience with how gaps in trauma-informed care affect individuals and communities, and it solidified my commitment to becoming a trauma specialist.

I then began my clinical work in Austin at a domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center, serving as a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Counselor. I supported teens and adults impacted by abuse, human trafficking, and complex trauma, gaining extensive experience with PTSD, anxiety, depression, dissociation, suicidality, and self-harm.

Before starting Mindful Soul Connection Counseling, I later transitioned into a private practice in North Austin, where I worked with adolescents and adults navigating trauma and complex PTSD, anxiety, anger, chronic pain, life transitions, ADHD, mood disorders, and dissociative symptoms. This experience strengthened my ability to provide steady, attuned care for individuals seeking both stabilization and meaningful, long-term healing.

My Story

As a first-generation college graduate from Corpus Christi, Texas, my path has been shaped by healing, self-discovery, and intentional growth. This journey deepened my understanding of how trauma, grief, identity, and disconnection affect the nervous system — even for people who continue to function, succeed, and carry responsibility.

Through lived experience with trauma, loss, anxiety, and learning challenges, I developed a deep respect for the strength it takes to show up for yourself consistently and build self-acceptance with intention. I understand how common it is to appear capable on the outside while feeling disconnected internally, and how meaningful change begins when all parts of yourself are acknowledged and supported.

As a woman of color, I value representation and culturally responsive care. I offer a space where clients are not expected to explain, perform, or minimize their experiences. My role is to provide steady guidance as you strengthen your connection to your mind, body, and sense of self.

Mindful Soul Connection Counseling was founded on the belief that effective mental health care should be grounded in respect, integrity, and access. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life and would be honored to support you as you move toward healing, resilience, and alignment.

Personal

I come from a collegiate athletic background, having played golf during my undergraduate years, which shaped my appreciation for discipline, focus, and performing under pressure. I identify as an Enneagram 8w9 (“The Diplomat”), and my work is grounded in advocacy, steadiness, and respect for each person’s autonomy and strength.

Outside of therapy, I value balance and consistency. I enjoy spending time at the gym, staying engaged with sports like golf, football, and basketball, and unwinding through reading horror and suspense novels or playing video games. I’m also a proud pet parent to a boxer dog and a cockatiel, both of which keep life grounded and full.

These interests and experiences inform my approach to therapy — grounded, relational, and attuned to the realities of stress, performance, and everyday life.
